We all know that spectacles have been used to improve people’s eyesights since the 1400s, but nothing dramatic really happened to the world of vision enhancement, until the mid 1950’s when Contacts were discovered.

The Ortho K system - a system of compensating your near sightedness whilst you sleep with special Contacts - could offer a solution. Wearing the tailor-made, gas-permeable lenses overnight reshapes the cornea (the dome-shaped window covering the front of the eye) to its correct position, giving the wearer 20/20 vision upon waking. The visual benefit can be found for at least 24 hours and sometimes a little longer - so you have to carry on to use the merchandise every night. Even if you are a keen swimmer, you can still consider this option as they are fine in the water. Clearly, this isn’t a cure, but it is safe, quick and easily reversible. It may also slow down the progression of your myopia. Although the science has been around for about 50 years, the new technology has made it far more economical.
