The Pitfalls of a 2-Six Starting Hand

There are starting hands in Texas Holdem poker that are considered poor simply because they are low valued cards to start with. A 2-6 starting hand is not one of these poker hands. It is considered a poor hand because it has limited potential to become anything else. You simply do not have the raw materials you need to form a good hand when you start off with a 2-6 off suit in your pocket. The only way that you can make anything decent out of this hand is if you get a fabulous flop of 3-4-5 that will give you a straight. This would make sure that you had a good casino hand, but also have the side effect of giving everyone else at the table a good hand as well. Not really the best situation for you when playing poker. The whole point is to have something. Anyone who is holding even a 6-7 will instantly have a straight that will beat yours at the showdown. It is simply not worth it to wait around hoping against the odds that you get the three cards you need to get a mediocre hand. Fold right away and save yourself the trouble.
