The Russian Approach to Fitness
In spite of the assumptions we’ve heard recently, kettlebells aren’t a modern invention. The prevailing opinion places their age at nearly three centuries old. Over the course of recent years, it should be said, they’ve skyrocketed in popularity to position themselves as one of the most popular fitness routines on the planet.
The simpler routines can be used by anybody, even if they didn’t have a prior workout system, and there’s no need to spend much on gear. Of course, the more advanced routines shouldn’t be used immediately. You will want to get used to the simple exercises prior to moving on to the more advanced ones. An important preparation before beginning to work out with kettlebells is to ensure you buy the best weight. What’s more, using kettlebell exercises, you need smaller weights than you’d expect. Ladies are probably better off with an eighteen lb kettlebell, although men should go for the thirty-five lb weight. This may seem unlikely, but it is because the benefits of this form are linked much more closely to the movements themselves than the weights used. It’s also important to get an instructional book or DVD to learn from and make certain you perform the routines right.
The first exercise to practice when using the kettlebell should be the double-handed swing. It sounds more straightforward than it actually is, but it functions as the basis of many kettlebell movements. Everything should flow fluidly, with no abrupt stops. Remember to confirm you’re not lifting the kettlebell with your shoulders - it’s a better idea to use your hips.
By the time you’ve got all of that, you’re ready to look further on - you’ll be ready to try advanced techniques. To make sure the kettlebell can retain your commitment, diversity is essential; you can always vary the accompanying tunes, move techniques in and out of your regime, et cetera. An additional set can be added once you’re comfortable, and to shake matters up fully you might maybe even adjust the weights involved. By doing this you have the chance to dodge the plateau which makes later exercise less worthwhile.
It should be noted that if you start using kettlebells to develop your strength or to body build, the results will not exactly enthrall you. What they will do is reduce your weight, tone up, and increase general health. We suggest bringing a Russian kettlebell session into your well rounded keep fit course. How often you perform the workouts is completely your own choice. If only you do a couple of sessions per week it’s a no brainer to uphold your baseline physique. And if you ramp up to a daily regime you can reduce excess fat and drop weight in no time!
