Making the Time to Volunteer

Volunteering; a path to a better community, and assisting the nearby needy. The obvious problem is that arranging to be free to volunteer often wastes some of that valuable free time. And you’ll have more fun volunteering when your colleagues are pitching in right along with you. For this reason companies like Adaptive Marketing LLC, that developed financial benefits programs including Privacy Matters Identity, are stepping up as organizing points which co-ordinate volunteer activity and help employees find the time to reach out. Initiatives like these used to be annual occasions — in today’s world, so much more can be accomplished. Tennis shoe recycling initiatives and more energetic efforts like tree-planting weekends — these and other activities have been organized by Adaptive Marketing for its staff. When Adaptive Marketing began central organization the initiatives grew into events, with specific times, dates, and locations publicized ahead of time to help volunteers with their time management. It is essential to let volunteers select projects that fit their outlook. At Adaptive Marketing, the company bringing you Privacy Matters Identity, employees are presented with the chance to choose from a wide assortment of volunteer activities in the local area. Previous projects have ranged between a wide range of areas including aid and assistance for children and young adults, environmental projects, and events supporting artists. Adaptive Marketing’s employees have so much to choose from that they’re sure to choose a project they’ll enjoy getting involved in, making their time fun as well as fulfilling.

If firms encourage staff volunteer at schools, it is often during an individual event or a regularly scheduled task. So if you can only find the time to assist at the public library’s used book sale, it’s still possible to make a difference.

It’s common practice for business firms to help out the people living around their base of operations. Like many other firms, Adaptive Marketing supports volunteer programs to support the people of its hometown and to spread goodwill through its home community through its members of staff actions. Something that volunteer initiatives are sure to do is leave your staff feeling good about themselves, leading to a motivated corporate culture.

Side Effects and Risks of Oral Contraceptives

Reports of Yaz side effects continue to develop as the manufacturers of Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella ready themselves for further judicial proceedings and more potential suits. Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, makers of Yasmin and Yaz, and Barr Pharmaceuticals, makers of the generic version Ocella have been barraged with allegement ranging from downplaying the severeness of side effects in their adverts to knowingly unleashing a serious and potentially deadly product on American women.

Questions were asked when women in their 20s and 30s were suddenly falling victim to ischemic stroke and heart attack after being put on Yaz. Young, healthy women who were on this brand of birth control for as little as a few months were exhibiting symptoms of major side effects and serious health risks. Ischemic stroke, heart arrhythmia, and pulmonary embolism are just some of the serious Yaz side effects allegedly experienced by patients put on this birth control pill.

It is essential that women became their own advocates and take charge of the decisions being made about their health and their bodies. As a whole, the American public relies too heavily on doctors and medications to give them answers in a bottle. In the internet age, it is up to you to do your own inquiry and remain informed. Drug recalls and corporate lawsuits have become all too commonplace in America. At some point, individuals have to stop expecting the government and big business to have their welfare in mind. It is time for the public to finally take the initiative and not be so quick to swallow anything passed to them in pill form.

Broken Window Theory Applies to Litter Too

Walk through your local city during the early hours of the dawn and you’ll meet various pedestrian road sweepers meandering around cleaning up the rubbish left from all the partying of the previous night. It’s an emblematic early daybreak setting, particularly the beeping noise! We don’t often give rubbish a consideration as we take for granted it will all be cleaned up for us.

However, there is a sometimes imperceptible yet important influence litter plays on human psychology. Individuals are more liable to think an area is lacking law and order if litter is strewn around, and so felons see litter as a potential indication for an opportunity of a break-in, a mugging, or car-theft. The same sign instills some concern in other individuals who worry they might be passing through a more risky neighbourhood and are concerned about possibly being robbed.

Not only that, but also the influence on the visual appeal of an area. Litter strewn around can make an area seem unkempt even if it’s just been “abused” by party revellers from the night before. This can hurt the reputation of a location if people are only within the area for this particular time and only view it in its disheveled state.

There’s absolutely no reason to drop rubbish if there are empty bins in the area. If there is a lack of litter bins, or the bins that are there are brimming, this is a problem to address the local council with. Trashing an area has a damaging influence on everyone.

Traveling Light

While everyone else squirms to get hold of their luggage at the carousel, those who pack light find themselves whizzing out of the airport in no time. More importantly, they have less to lug around for the rest of the trip.

With less baggage, the chances of incurring those excess baggage fees are nil. And porters can’t make a buck off those who travel light.

Packing light essentially means having just one carryon. By travelling light, one has all the luggage in place and no handler would ever have to tinker with them. That’s bad news for thieves and good news for those who are forgetful. Also, rebooking flights are never as easy as when the luggage is like one’s shadow.

Getting around is cheaper with less baggage too, because lightness means not having to hail exorbitantly metered taxis. Buses and trains would always be choices.

To travel light, one should list down all items to include in the trip. This technique easily determines all items cut out for the trip, and cuts back on the unnecessary ones.

Along those thoughts, it is best to leave at home those Chopard diamonds. The same goes for valuables like family objects and extra credit cards. Find out the weather in your destination so you know what appropriate clothes to bring. Bring at most, two pieces of each type of clothing. If a formal event is in the itinerary, bring only what is essential.

Travelers may wear the heaviest pieces of their travel clothes. Recommended clothes include pants that double as shorts. Shoes can serve as storage places for socks. Light travelers should be ready to wash clothes more often though.

Cosmetic products should be pared down to a minimum, preferably in travel sizes; ditto for medications.

As Violence Surges in Iraq, Author Puts Forward a New Perspective

What if the Earth is a Living Planet like the Human Body?

By George E. Lockett. “What does it mean to look at the war-torn Earth as one would the human body?” asks HealerGeorge, author of the book “Journey into the Self - The Multi-Dimensional Nature of Being Human”.

HealerGeorge is about to publish his first book, “Journey into the Self - The Multi-Dimensional Nature of Being Human”, and is already writing a sequel from his home in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. He says:

“People of the world are really the same as the cells of the human body. Let’s look at the world as a living organism: for one country to wage war on another is like the brain attacking the heart.

“What you end up with is heart dis-ease. The same on the planet - war between countries only hurts the world and should now be treated like a disease or illness.

“If there were a war going on in the human body there would be dis-ease; one would become aware of this, with the feeling of pain.

“It would be described, for example, as liver failure, as the cells would have died due to constant bombardment of the immune system, or too much work, or pollution within the body. The same with the planet; there is a need to respect the wholeness and oneness of life on our planet.

“If we find conflict in the world, treat it with love not war. War destroys the organs of the living world like liver or heart dis-ease; while love is like healing, bringing new growth, balance and health to the diseased area.

“We are now moving into the New Earth - a time when we see and experience the wholeness of life. Let’s all start to breathe love into areas of conflict and bring healing both to ourselves and the planet on which humans live.

“What this portrays is a comparison, which really makes you think: It is said that the rain forests are the lungs of the world, oxygenating the air.

“The human body is made of about 70% water and the planet’s surface is covered with about the same area as water. The weather mainly involves the movement of water or water vapour.

“The emotions flow through the water in the body and often come to the surface as expressions of emotions through tears in the eyes; while with the weather one may talk of an angry storm or a chill wind. When feeling a little depressed one may talk of the dark clouds hanging over us.

“As people learn to calm their feelings, the weather patterns will come back into balance. Let’s learn to love and respect all life and see it as a part of ourselves.

“The different countries can take on the different qualities of the body. For example the skin colour of the people in each region differs.

“Many of the people of Africa and the Caribbean have a skin colour resembling the colour of the liver and kidneys. Our blood is red, our bile is yellow, and the pupils of our eyes are black, till one can find an example of all the colours of all the races in the world within the cell colours of the body.

“The body does not suffer from colour conflicts within itself, even though the cells are all different colours. Let’s see the world as a whole body and the people as the cells and let’s all pull in the same direction to make the world a whole and healthy place to live.

“Let’s see the oneness and wholeness of life and breathe love and support into war-torn regions of the world.”

Iran Builds Support Among Muslim Nations

The U.S./Israel coalitions have been at odds with the Iranian government over Iran’s nuclear program. Diplomatic efforts have soured over the U.S. Israeli belief that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran contends that the nuclear program is to make energy and resents any interference from countries deemed hostile to their cause. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad states that he is willing to talk about the program to anyone except Israel who has keeps “bombs over our head”.

Iran has won support among many Muslim Leaders for his uranium enrichment program. Members whom Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke with included prime ministers from Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Turkey, Malaysia, Egypt and Bangladesh.

Although the meeting held on the island of Bali was to discuss ways to boost economic and political cooperation, alleviate poverty, restructure debt the discussion quickly swayed to Iran’s stand off with Israel and the U.S. “Our people need to do more to help one another,” and that Islamic countries should work together to increase the development of renewable and alternative energy resources stated Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhovono

To add to the complicated conflict an anonymous UN inspector pushed his political agenda by indicating that traces of highly enriched uranium of bomb making quality were found at a research center that works with the military. The statement was quickly rebuffed by an agent from the International Atomic Energy Association who clearly indicated that no such “high grade” uranium was found. He also went on to state that the uranium that was found was well below bomb making quality.

The European Union posted on their websites that their ministers were prepared to support Iran’s nuclear energy program if international concerns could be resolved. Such a decision would further leave the U.S. and Israel at odds with the rest of the world.

Since the years of sanctions on Iraq, and the subsequent invasion that went against the grain of the international community, the U.S. and its close ally Israel have been further alienated from having a dominate opinion in international affairs. Due to the miss information handed to the public through traditional media sources such as CNN (hence the recent growth in alternative news sources) American’s have been in great support of Israel. In blind furry politicians make decisions to support their ally without consideration to the validity, political fall-out or long term ramifications of doing so. Honesty, integrity and forethought should be considered before making international policy.

Attention Iraqis - My Son Is Fighting For You

My son turned twenty-one years old on his way to Iraq a couple of weeks ago. There was no birthday celebration; no cake and ice cream. There was only the sound of bullets whizzing past his helicopter as his platoon landed in Ar Ramadi. He told me it is hard to grasp the fact “that someone is being paid to kill me.” At almost the same time my son was landing in Ramadi, Congress was taking a symbolic vote on whether we should pull out of Iraq immediately.

This vote has done more to add to my total disrespect for politicians than anything I can ever remember. Why should we have to take a vote? This same Congress voted to send the soldiers into battle to begin with. Now after we have lost more than 2000 brave young men and women, we need to decide whether we should pull out or stay. This was not, in my opinion, anything more than politicians playing games with my son’s life.

Of course we should stay and finish the job. More importantly, we must never show the troops that there is anything other than solid support for them. Politicians on both sides of the aisle should be ashamed for trying to advance their party lines. To our “leaders” I say let’s rally this country like never before, win this thing, and bring our troops home . To our enemies I say pay attention. These young men and women will fight like nothing you can imagine and you will surely lose. To all the families with loved ones on the front line I say stay strong . This is a pain like none I could have ever imagined, but the cause is noble and our sons and daughters are the true leaders of this country. They do not get up every day and take a vote on whether this mission is just. They get up, suck it up and take the battle to the enemy.

To the Iraqi people I say you are so lucky to have our troops in your country . So while your people are planting roadside bombs to kill our soldiers, they are trying desperately to make a better life for you and yours. Polls indicate that you see The United States as occupiers rather than liberators. How ungrateful can you possibly be? My son does not want to occupy your land. He merely wants to help you have the same opportunities we have in America. So if you view him as an occupier, then perhaps you should rally your fellow countrymen to turn in those who would seek to do harm. Because then, and only then will American troops be free to leave your country.

To my son and all the men and women serving everywhere I say YOU are my heroes. Thank you and know that my support will never waiver no matter what direction the political winds blow. I am proud to have you representing our country

While we all have our political views, this is not the time to express them. As I write this, I am not a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or any other party affiliation. I am a Dad who loves his son and wants the whole country to stand behind him. God bless our troops and bring them all home safely. And God bless the USA.
